Mark Your Calendar: Upcoming MDA Events
By MDA Staff | Tuesday, December 19, 2023
MDA Events bring community members, advocates, volunteers, sponsors, and MDA staff together as they gather for a cause and celebrate community. In-person events offer attendees and volunteers a powerful opportunity to connect, creating a sense of belonging and purpose while raising funds that are critical supporting groundbreaking research for treatment of neuromuscular disease. In 2024, we are excited to share the many events that will be taking place across the country each quarter.
Check out these upcoming events for the first quarter of 2024.
The Brandon ½ Marathon in Brandon, Florida
Taking place on Sunday, January 7, 2024, participants have the option of registering for a ½ marathon and a 5K. Volunteers, attendees, staff, and sponsors gather to cheer for participants while raising valuable funds.
Brandon Running Association, in collaboration with APEC’s leadership team, helps make this event possible. Through their hard work, the dedication of time and energy from their leadership teams, and the generous donations from sponsors, last year’s incredible event raised a record $80,000 to support MDA’s mission.
This year’s run will start and stop at 2016 Town Center Blvd, Brandon, Florida.
You can register to participate in the ½ marathon or 5K (use the code MDA50 for a discount on registration fees), make a donation, or simply attend the event and cheer for the runners from the sidelines.
The 13th Annual CITGO Lemont Refinery Shamrock Bowl in Romeoville, Illinois
This year’s event marks the 13th year that MDA has partnered with CITGO Lemont Refinery for the Shamrock Bowl. Last year’s event raised nearly $145,000, breaking the record for all previous years and bringing that grand total of this event to $1.1 million since its inception.
Held at the Bowlero located on Center Boulevard in Romeoville, IL, this event is a fun-filled day of bowling, bringing together MDA families, volunteers, staff, and CITGO employees and contractors. Attendees hit the lanes, connect with their community, and to meet with local MDA Ambassadors and hear their stories.
Local families interested in attending the event can contact the MDA Resource Center at 1-833-ASK-MDA1 (1-833-275-6321). If you are unable to attend the event but would like to make a donation, you can do so here.
